DENISE CANAT was born in Guadeloupe, French West Indies, but was raised and educated in Louisiana. She earned a BFA degree in Design from Tulane University, New Orleans. She later did post-graduate work in Paris, where she met her future husband. The two settled permanently in Paris in 1972.
While in Paris, then in Aix-en-Provence, she enriched her creative scope by working in artist studios and participating in workshops. Since 1988, her works have been in art shows and galleries in Paris, Tours, Aix-en-Provence and La Ciotat, where she presently resides and is secretary of the artist association SIRENES.
When Denise is not toiling away in her studio, she’s renovating her country farm house and making plans for future travel and discoveries.
